IIMAT’s Diploma in Business Management is designed to train students in the broad fundamentals of business.  The program is aimed at students (school leavers and adult learners) who want to embark in entrepreneurship or pursue a Bachelor’s Degree.    The key essence of the programme aims to produce well-rounded, innovative and enterprising graduates who are equipped with the skills necessary to perform leadership roles in the business and corporate world, running their own business or being a proactive employee in a business organization. The course is designed to produce graduates with the technical and conceptual skills necessary to visualize and execute the business ideas. 

Diploma in Business Management provides flexibility for students by allowing you to pursue careers and upward academic pursuits in many different specialized fields such as Accountancy, Economics, Finance, Human Resource and Management.  Students will acquire knowledge and skills in business studies with emphasis on critical thinking, management principles and practices, all that will aspire them to manage business operations in real life.  Also, with the knowledge gained from this program, look to be well-informed investor and make sound investment decisions in financial markets.

Entry Requirement :

  • SPM/SPMV with at least a credit in 3 subjects;
  • APEL ‘A’ – above 20 years old; 
  • Certificate (Level 3 MQF) in relevant field at least CGPA 2.0;
  • UEC with at least B grade in 3 subjects;
  • O-Level with at least C grade in 3 subjects;
  • SKM (Level 3 MQF) in related field & pass in SPM with a minimum of 1 credit in any subject;
  • STPM/equivalent with at least a grade C (CGPA 2.00) in 1 subject;
  • STAM (Maqbul rank);
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognized by the MQF.

Diploma in Early Childhood Education

The Malaysian government is a strong advocate for early childhood education and has tabulated the National Policy for Early Childhood Education.  The minimum requirement for teaching at private preschools and childcare centres will be a Diploma in Early Childhood Education by the year 2020.  According to the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2015, there will be approximately 900,000 children expected to enroll in preschools nationwide and 30,000 qualified teachers will be demanded. 

Our course is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and is suitable if you are an aspiring pre-school teacher, kindergarten principal, and entrepreneur or if you are pursuing further education.  The Diploma programme has a very concentrated content in early childhood and amongst the best in the country and aims to equip learners with knowledge of child development and professional skills.  These skills include lesson planning, guiding and supporting young children, managing child behaviour observing and recording behaviours, communication skills, developmentally appropriate practices and the role of the teacher in early childhood settings.

Upon completion of the Diploma in ECE programme, students can proceed to complete the Bachelor in ECE programme at IIMAT College with credit transfers for selected subjects.  This Bachelor in ECE programme is a special collaboration with Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI).

Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)

This programme trains those who desire to be educators especially those in the Early Childhood Education sector to become highly competent, innovative and ethical professionals who are able to contribute to the development of quality programmes for young children and their families in the country.  Our courses combine hands-on experiences with leading research and critical perspectives on theory, exposing you to the rich and engaging tasks that are directly linked to the teaching profession.

The teaching methods of this programme aim to encourage students to challenge and extend their understanding of early childhood education in general and their own practice in particular.  Approaches to teaching are generally interactive and non-didactic.  Students will be encouraged to reflect and build on their practical experience through participation in workshops, seminars and tutorials in a stimulating teaching and learning environment.  You will learn the art of being flexible, adaptable and resourceful, able to work not only with young children but also with a wide variety of adults in the community.  There will also be a substantial input in business management preparing our graduates in future entrepreneurship and business potential.

The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) is approved with Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and is a special collaboration programme awarded by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) but conducted at IIMAT College.  Graduates in this program can apply to teach in government institutions with no further need to obtain the teaching certificate.
