The Malaysian government is a strong advocate for early childhood education and has tabulated the National Policy for Early Childhood Education. The minimum requirement for teaching at private preschools and childcare centres will be a Diploma in Early Childhood Education by the year 2020. According to the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2015, there will be approximately 900,000 children expected to enroll in preschools nationwide and 30,000 qualified teachers will be demanded.
Our course is fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and is suitable if you are an aspiring pre-school teacher, kindergarten principal, and entrepreneur or if you are pursuing further education. The Diploma programme has a very concentrated content in early childhood and amongst the best in the country and aims to equip learners with knowledge of child development and professional skills. These skills include lesson planning, guiding and supporting young children, managing child behaviour observing and recording behaviours, communication skills, developmentally appropriate practices and the role of the teacher in early childhood settings.
Upon completion of the Diploma in ECE programme, students can proceed to complete the Bachelor in ECE programme at IIMAT College with credit transfers for selected subjects. This Bachelor in ECE programme is a special collaboration with Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI).
